Damaged or missing teeth are more than just a cosmetic dental issue— they can cause serious problems with the function of your mouth and jaw because of alignment changes. These changes can negatively affect the way we eat and speak. Additionally, they can make your teeth prone to unwanted shifting, cracking, or infection because of gaps or damage.
This means it’s extremely important to protect your teeth and ensure your smile stays the way you want it to. Dental implants are often the best, most conservative, and long-lasting method to replace natural teeth.
Dental implants are one of the best tooth replacement options available because they can fully replicate natural tooth structure in form and function, ensuring your smile remains healthy and complete. Implant dentistry may be recommended for patients who are missing several teeth or a single tooth.
Dental implants work by implanting a specialized, biocompatible prosthetic into the jawbone and then attaching a fabricated crown, bridge, or denture that blends in with your natural teeth. The result is an implant that works and looks just like your natural teeth. Don’t let damaged or missing teeth affect your health, reduce your self-confidence, and keep you from feeling like yourself when you’re at your best.
At Dr. Yeh & Associates, we help patients restore their smiles and improve their health with the most modern and high-quality dental restorations.
All ON 4 IMPLANTS
What is All-on-4?
All-on-4 is a revolutionary type of implant-retained denture that resolves many of the common disadvantages of traditional dentures. 4 dental implant posts are strategically placed into the thickest parts of the jaw. This can prevent the need for bone grafting. As a result, if you were previously told you weren’t a good candidate for dental implants because of bone loss, All-on-4 may be the solution for you.
In some cases, you can even be fitted with a temporary denture the same day as your placement surgery, so you won’t need to go without teeth while you heal. Although fewer posts are used compared to a traditional implant-retained denture, rest assured, you’ll enjoy the same benefits and stability.
How Can I Help All-on-4 Last?
After you receive your denture, it’s vital you maintain your oral hygiene at home and visit your dentist at least twice a year for a cleaning and checkup. To further reduce your risk of potential dental implant failure, you’ll want to maintain a balanced diet and avoid anything that may lead to complications.
Rebuild Your Smile Today!
If you’re ready to enjoy a long-term solution to replace your missing teeth, invest in All-on-4 because they can last for a lifetime. You can bring new life to your smile by stabilizing your denture with dental implants.
Tooth decay begins to happen when bacteria eat away at the enamel, and you can often tell this is happening when it hurts to bite or chew. This is because the enamel is weakened and there’s less protection between the underlying nerves and the outside world.
When the decay becomes advanced, it can affect the deep structures of the tooth, including blood vessels and nerves, causing the patient pain even when you don’t put pressure on it. When detected early, tooth decay can be easily corrected with a simple composite filling or similar restorative technique. When the decay becomes an infection that spreads beyond the outer layers of the enamel and invades the pulp and root, root canal therapy is usually necessary.
At Dr. Yeh & Associates, we use the latest technology and equipment to make sure your root canal procedure is as non-invasive and pain-free as possible. Root canal therapy is designed to eliminate bacteria that have infected the internal canal system of a tooth and prevent reinfection in the future. This treatment helps save your natural tooth and restore its function through minor surgical techniques. Additionally, root canal treatment can effectively relieve pain associated with a damaged or infected nerve.
The Root Canal Process and What to Expect
Your First Appointment (60-75 minutes)
Our team will ensure you are completely comfortable and relaxed while we talk you through the process and what to expect. Then, you’ll be given local anesthesia so that you don’t experience any pain or discomfort during the process. Nitrous oxide is also available for those who have severe dental phobia. A rubber dam will be placed on the tooth to ensure a sterile environment. The internal parts of the tooth (sometimes referred to as the “pulp chamber”) will be debrided and cleaned of decay and infected tissue. If there is no excess of infected and inflamed tissue, gutta-percha (a specialized filling material) will be placed and a temporary filling will close off the internal structure of the tooth. A final x-ray will be taken to confirm the completion of the process and a subsequent crown appointment will be scheduled. A crown is a cap placed over the tooth that can ensure the tooth is not reinfected– and that the tooth looks and works like normal.
EXTRACTIONS & WISDOM TEETH REMOVAL
A common procedure performed by oral surgeons is tooth extraction. Extractions are usually necessary for resolving extensive decay, trauma, or overcrowding in the mouth. Removing diseased tissue restores the mouth to health and function and prevents further concerns from developing in the teeth or other oral tissues.
Often, tooth extraction is performed in tandem with restorative treatments like implants or bridges to make sure your smile remains complete and you don’t experience negative side effects from gaps in your smile. Wisdom Teeth Removal Although some people don’t experience any problems with their wisdom teeth, many people need them removed at some point. This is because they can cause concerns like crowding, shifting, problems with your bite, or even discomfort if the wisdom teeth aren’t removed within the right timeframe.
Dental veneers are great if you’re experiencing crowding problems, chipped teeth, worn down teeth, or have areas of stained teeth.
Veneers are thin shells that are placed on the front surface of the teeth to enhance their appearance—they will hide any noticeable flaws and help the teeth appear straight and even. The shade of veneers can be adjusted to your tooth color and they are applied with minimal discomfort.
Dental veneers are strong and durable and will last for many years before they require replacement or repairs. Every set of dental veneers is custom-designed based on your needs—so you get the results you want. This means we will make two appointments with you, the first to take impressions of your teeth and the second to apply and adjust the veneers to your teeth.
ANXIETY & STRESS REDUCTION
It is not unusual for people to feel hesitant and nervous when visiting a dental office. For some people, this can lead to fear and anxiety that can cause people to avoid dental treatment and risk their general oral health. We feel strongly that all patients in our office should have the best experience possible and there are a number of ways in which we strive to make all appointments stress-free and comfortable.
We find that the more information people have about conditions or treatment, the less anxious and more in control they feel. Often, a simple conversation can ease fears and reduce anxiety. Our doctors are available for consultation and are always happy to discuss your concerns and
treatment. Patients can expect full explanations of planned dental treatment and will also be provided with information concerning appropriate pain relief medication and strategies.
2. Oral anti-anxiety medications:
For some patients, information is not sufficient to ease their fears. For more profound relaxation, oral medications to reduce anxiety can be given to patients prior to your appointment.
3. Nitrous oxide:
Sometimes known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is a gas that is administered with oxygen through a small nose piece and requires you to breathe normally through your nose. The advantages of nitrous oxide are that it works rapidly and produces a feeling of relaxation and can diminish pain sensation. The effects are instantaneous, unlike oral sedatives (pills), the gas can be switched off and its effects are removed. There are no lasting side effects and you can resume all normal activities, including driving after the procedure is completed.
with procedures involving the gums (scaling and root planning, deep cleanings) that feel uncomfortable, nitrous oxide can make the treatment more tolerable with or without the need for local anesthesia.
Dental crowns and bridges are effective restorations when teeth are lost or severely damaged. We partner with Kuwata Dental Lab, one of the most prestigious dental labs in the tri-state, where each ceramist is highly trained in Japan to deliver optimal results to the patient. We partner with the best lab for our crowns and bridges to ensure the
restorations last as long as possible and provide exceptional performance. We ensure your dental crowns and bridges blend in seamlessly with your existing teeth and will function like natural teeth.
Dental bonding and composite fillings can dramatically improve the appearance of your teeth. Dental Bonding uses enamel-colored composite resin to effectively close gaps, repair chipped or fractured teeth, or cover up discolored teeth. This revolutionary process can also seal children's teeth to reduce decay, and treat small areas of decay. During this process enamel-colored composite resin is applied to the tooth surfaces, hardened, sculpted into shape, and polished to match the surrounding teeth.
